Berkshire County landowners invited to wildlife habitat bird walk

Berkshire County private landowners are invited to attend an outdoor workshop onManaging for Early-Successional Habitat” on Saturday, June 1, 2013, 8:00 am to 10:30 am on the Bakke Family property on Bliss Rd. in Florida, Mass. A panel of experts from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife (Mass Wildlife) and Pantermehl Environmental Services will lead a bird walk through old field, shrub land, thicket and mature forest habitats on the 800 acre property.

Environmentally savvy teenagers take top honors at expanded Massachusetts Envirothon

A school year of preparation paid off for local teenagers who were rewarded for their knowledge of the environment at the 26th annual Massachusetts Envirothon. They were among 250 high school students from more than 30 Massachusetts communities from Boston to the Berkshires descended on Borderland State Park in North Easton on Thursday, May 16, 2013 for the outdoor field competition.
