"Building Healthy Soils" workshops, April 24 and 25 in S. Deerfield and Rehoboth
Two workshops designed to help farmers who grow vegetables, fruit and field crops, as well as grass-based livestock operations, to build healthier soils are planned for April 24th and 25th in western and southeastern Massachusetts. ”Building Healthy Soils on Your Farm” will focus on the soil’s capacity to function as a vital living system that sustains plant, animal and human health.
New NRCS Massachusetts website launched!
The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in Massachusetts has a brand new website. Launched in late February, the new site matches the look and feel of the national NRCS website and the USDA national website and presents information in an easy-to-navigate structure.
Woods Forum planned
If you own woods, come to a Woods Forum on Wednesday, April 17, 7:00 pm, Warfield House, off of Rt. 2, Charlemont to share your questions and experiences. This informal discussion will be a chance to get advice and recommendations from local conservation and forestry professionals and other landowners on forest management, invasive pests and plants, land conservation, property tax programs, and anything else that’s on your mind regarding your woods.
The forum is open to all; refreshments will be served. To reserve your seat, contact: Wendy Sweetser Ferris, Franklin Land Trust, 413 625-9151 or email@example.com.
