Massachusetts Agricultural Commissions Conference

The second statewide Agricultural Commissions Conference will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Worcester State College. The conference is planned by AgCom members for AgCom members and for those interested in supporting agriculture and AgComs in Massachusetts. Workshop topics were selected from issues that AgComs indentified as high priority for education and discussion. Attendees will have time for networking and visiting exhibitors.


Enhance Your Farm's Future: Bristol County Farm Conference & Resource Fair

The third annual One-Day Farm Conference & Resource Fair organized by the Bristol County Conservation District and the Southeastern Massachusetts Agricultural Partnership (SEMAP) will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010, 8:00 am-4:00 pm at the Bristol County Agricultural High School, 135 Center St., Dighton MA. 


UMass to hold farmer meetings

The University of Massachusetts Extension, Crops, Dairy, Livestock and Equine Team is sponsoring two farmers meetings to share the past year's research results and provide an outlet for farmers' input and participation in future on-farm research or demonstration. Meetings will be held on March 31, 2010 at Cooks Farm, 1 East Hadley Rd. in Hadley and on April 7, 2010 at Talvy Farm, 138 North Main St. in West Brookfield. Both meetings will begin at 10:30 am and continue until 1:30 pm with lunch provided.


MassDevelopment/Strolling of the Heifers Small Farm Loan Deadline March 19th

The MassDevelopment/Strolling of the Heifers Small Farm Loan Program will accept prequalified applications through March 19th for loans ranging from $3,000 to $15,000. These funds will help farmers finance capital investments and meet operating costs. The program is open to farmers throughout Massachusetts. MassDevelopment and The Carrot Project will jointly administer the program.
