Conservation Stewardship Program - Fiscal Year 2010
Through CSP, NRCS will provide financial and technical assistance to eligible producers to conserve and enhance soil, water, air, and related natural resources on their land. Eligible lands include cropland, grassland, prairie land, improved pastureland, rangeland, nonindustrial private forest lands, agricultural land under the jurisdiction of an Indian tribe, and other private agricultural land on which resource concerns related to agricultural production could be addressed. Participation in the program is voluntary.

Visit your local Farm Service Agency (FSA) office to ensure:
- compliance with adjusted gross income provisions by filing Form CCC-36
- you are the operator of record in FSA farm records
- compliance with highly erodible land (HEL) and wetland provisions
If you are an operator/renter, you must have documented control of the land offered for the term of the contract (5 years).

A CSP self-screening checklist is available to help you determine if CSP is suitable for your operation. The checklist highlights basic information about the CSP eligibility requirements, contract obligations and potential payments. A CSP application includes your entire agricultural operation (land for which you are the operator in FSA farm records management system). Misrepresentation of your operation can result in repayment of contract payments and termination of the participant's interest in all CSP contracts.
The Conservation Program Application (Form NRCS-CPA-1200) is available from your local NRCS office. Review the CSP Appendix for complete contractual obligations and submit your application to NRCS by June 25, 2010.
A resource inventory will be conducted on your entire agricultural operation, applications will be ranked, and contract offers will be made according to the CSP final rule. Applicants will then decide if they wish to participate in CSP.
