Earth Day 2014

Hugoton Elementary students—all 675 of them in pre-K through 6th grade—experienced the Earth Balloon during their Earth Day celebration.

Students were educated about the miniscule amount of producing cropland and usable water available on the Earth. When the earth's water supply is compared to a gallon of water, only 1/4 cup of the gallon is fresh water, and only two drops of water are used for watering crops and drinking water.

Assisting with the presentation of facts and the Earth Balloon were Seward and Stevens County Conservation Districts, as well as NRCS employees and Earth Team volunteers.
