SUBJECT:  - ENG – National Engineering Handbook (NEH), Part 651, Agricultural Waste Management Field Handbook (AWMFH)

Purpose:  To update the approved list for in-vessel composters and clarify the number of bins used with in-vessel systems

Expiration Date:  Upon receipt.

Explanation: The existing Illinois composting supplement to the AWMFH has been updated to include an additional approved manufacturer of in-vessel composters.

This notice also includes clarification on the number of secondary bins required when designing an in-vessel composter system.

The Illinois NRCS engineering website will be updated to include the revised supplement at http://www.il.nrcs.usda.gov/technical/engineer/eng_index.html. This supplement will also be posted to the NRCS eDirectives website at http://directives.sc.egov.usda.gov/.

 

Filing Instructions: Holders of hard copy Agricultural Waste Management Field Handbook binders should:
  1. Remove AWMFH Chapter 10 IL supplement pages 10-81(1) through 10-81(7).
  2. Print the attached new AWMFH supplement on green paper, and file in the AWMFH after page 10-81.
