SUBJECT:  National Engineering Handbook Part 651, Engineering Technical Materials

Purpose:  To update Illinois Vegetated Treatment Area supplements to the Agricultural Waste Management Field Handbook

Expiration Date:  Upon receipt.

Explanation: Conservation Practice Standard 635 Vegetated Treatment Area (VTA), formerly known as Wastewater Treatment Strip, has been updated in the Illinois NRCS Field Office Technical Guide. To support the updated 635 standard, a new design spreadsheet was distributed through Illinois Bulletin 210-9-1.

This notice distributes an updated Illinois supplement IL 10-66(1) through 10-66(6) to replace former Illinois supplement IL 10-66(1) through 10-66(12) distributed through AWMFH Notice IL-1 in February 1993 and updated through AWMFH Notice IL-8 in May 2004.

The Illinois NRCS engineering website will be updated to include the updated Illinois VTA supplement at http://www.il.nrcs.usda.gov/technical/engineer/eng_index.html.

Filing Instructions:

All holders of Agricultural Waste Management Field Handbook binders should:

  1. Remove and archive AWMFH supplement IL 10-66(1) through 10-66(12) dated February 1993 and May 2004.
  2. Print the attached AWMFH supplement IL 10-66(1) through 10-66(6) on green paper, and file in the AWMFH after page 10-66.
