SUBJECT:  National Engineering Handbook (NEH), Part 650, Engineering Field Handbook (EFH)

Purpose:  To update an existing Illinois supplement in EFH Chapter 6 on 4100 series reinforced concrete drop spillways.

Expiration Date:  Upon receipt

Explanation: This notice updates the requirements for reinforcing steel in the 4100 series reinforced concrete drop spillway standard design to current structural standards, and documents existing limitations on use. The Illinois NRCS engineering website will be updated to include the new Illinois supplement at http://www.il.nrcs.usda.gov/technical/engineer/EFH-SupNotes/EFH-suplmnts.html

Filing Instructions:

Holders of hardcopy Engineering Field Handbook binders should:

  1. Discard existing IL supplement 6-12.1a and 6-12.1b, but retain the remainder of the existing supplement.
  2. Print out the attached supplement on green paper and file in the EFH, after page 6-12.
