Champaign, IL--If planting is done on your farm, take some time to attend a field day in Arrowsmith, Illinois on Saturday June 2, 2012, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The day will start at 10:00 with the Cover Crops program which will include a freshly dug soil pit, financial assistance options, and Dr. Shalamar Armstrong, Illinois State University, discussing the effect of nitrogen application to Cover Crops. The pasture walk will begin at 1:00 with topics on rotational grazing, Endophyte-friendly fescues, ways to extend the grazing season with annual forages and cover crops, and pasture improvements. Lunch will be provided for registered attendees.
The Cover Crop Field Day/Pasture Walk is sponsored by the Illinois Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative, Kankakee County Graziers, Illinois Forage and Grassland Council, University of Illinois Extension, NRCS, Earlybird Feed & Fertilizer, Schuette Seeds, and Pro Harvest Seeds.

The Elton Mau farm is located at 31086 E 1300 N Road in Arrowsmith, IL. People traveling from the Bloomington area can take Route 9 East for 14 miles from Eastland Mall, to Road 3000 E and turn south or right for 1 mile to the intersection of 1300 N Rd. Turn east or left on 1300 N Rd. and the Mau farm is 1.25 mile east on the north side of the road.
Producers coming from the east on I-74 should exit at LeRoy and go north on Rt. 150. At the 4 way stop turn left or west and follow 150 for about a mile until you get to Casey's on the north side of the road. Turn north, this is 2600 E Rd., and drive 8 miles to 1300 N Rd. Turn right or east onto 1300 N and go 5.25 miles to the Mau farm on the north side of the road.
