Conservation Strategies for Growing Communities
The Growth of Urban Conservation
Urban communities continue to expand to meet the needs of growing populations–More homes, schools, shopping centers, and more roads must be built to connect people with these services.
Developing areas account for a significant amount of soil erosion and off-site damage from sediment–constructions sites typically have far great erosion rates than agricultural land, making runoff from urbanizing landscapes a significant source of sediment in surface water.
