NRCS to Hold Soil Health Forum in Boise February 18
BOISE, ID – January 21, 2014 – The Idaho Natural Resources Conservation Service in Boise is hosting a soil health forum on February 18, 2014 from 8 am to noon. The forum features a live-streamed video broadcast of the opening sessions of the National Conference on Cover Crops and Soil Health from Omaha, Nebraska, as well as local presenters. The forum is free and open to the public but reservations are requested to ensure adequate meeting space.
The Idaho forum will feature a live-broadcast of conference opening session by Howard Buffet of the Howard G. Buffet Foundation and USDA Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack. To be followed by a panel of leading soil health farmers who will provide their perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of improving soil health. The meetings will end with in-person presentations by local NRCS employees on soil health fundamentals and Idaho case studies.
Attendance at the National Conference on Cover Crops and Soil Health is by invitation only. To make a portion of the conference available to more farmers, NRCS is hosting local forums at various locations across the nation.
