Soil Surveys in Georgia are published in a regular series by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. Some soil surveys are single counties, but many are combinations of two or three counties. Not all counties have a modern soil survey available, but work is progressing to provide state-wide coverage. Recent updates have been made to the status map below for the following counties: Bartow, Clinch, Dade, Echols, Greene, Hancock, Taliaferro, and Walker.
See the following links for information on the status and availability of Georgia soil survey publications. (These links are outside the Georgia NRCS website.)
Soil surveys can be requested from the NRCS field office in the area you are interested in. NRCS field office contact information for each of Georgia's counties is available from the USDA Office Information Locator.
