Partners overview

Partnerships expand the reach and depth of conservation on the land. Individually the federal, state, and nonprofit groups that comprise our conservation partnerships have a diversity of expertise in discipline, location/area, and focus. As partners in conservation, these groups share their unique areas of expertise and conservation work to put more conservation on the land.

Partner Examples

Florida Soil and Water Conservation Districts are local units of government responsible for the soil and water conservation work within their boundaries. The districts' role is to increase voluntary conservation practices among farmers, ranchers and other land users. The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) is the national organization for local conservation districts across the country.

Florida Grazing Lands Coalition

The cattle industry can be traced back to early Florida exploration in the 1520s.The Florida Grazing Lands Coalition is a producer-led effort to enhance the management and health of private grazing lands.  NRCS provides financial and technical assistance to landowners to support improved management of Florida’s grazing land resources.  In addition, the FGLC works to develop strategies to address new resource concerns and remove barriers to assist Florida’s grazing lands stewards achieve their management and natural resource conservation goals.  This initiative has helped producers apply new technology to improve livestock production efficiency while maintaining or improving their natural resources.
