Cache River WREP MRBI Project
2010 Wetland Restoration in the Cache River Watershed to Reduce Nutrient and Sediment Loading
This Wetlands Reserve Enhancement Program project is sponsored by The Nature Conservancy with collaborating partnerships with Ducks Unlimited, Arkansas Forestry Commission, Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Arkansas Natural Resources Commission, and Arkansas Audubon.
The partners will work in 3 sub-watersheds of the Cache River in Clay, Greene, Lawrence, Craighead, Jackson, Poinsett, Woodruff, Cross, Prairie, and Monroe Counties.
The goal of the project is to reduce nutrient and sediment loads entering the Mississippi River by managing non-point pollution in the Cache River.
The partners will focus on reforestation of riparian areas associated with croplands.
