NRCS Announces Funding for America's Great Outdoors Initiative Upper Cache River Watershed Project

Sign-Up Deadline Extended to May 10, 2013

LITTLE ROCK, Ark., April 16, 2013 – Acting USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service State Conservationist Doris Washington today announced landowners in portions of the Upper Cache River Watershed in five Arkansas counties now have until May 10, 2013, to sign up for financial assistance through the America’s Great Outdoors Initiative.

Assistance is available to agriculture producers in parts of Clay, Craighead, Greene, Lawrence and Randolph counties to implement conservation practices that reduce soil erosion and help reduce the amount of sedimentation reaching surface water in the watershed.

Examples of practices eligible for financial assistance include field ditches, pipe drops, ponds and sediment control basins.  Funding will be through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP).
