Project Description

This easement includes 377.2 acres in the floodplain of Jack’s Bayou.  During times of high water, 240 acres are inundated with floodwater.  Damage to this site consists of sedimentation and erosion.

This application is adjacent to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Owned Holland Bottoms Wildlife Management Area.

Restoration of this site will include the installation of a levee, water control structure and the establishment of bottomland hardwood trees.  The restoration will cost an estimated $54,458 or $145 per acre.

By utilizing funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to restore the natural vegetation, soil erosion caused by flooding will be reduced.  This water quality improvement will benefit the entire area.
