14 DeKalb Co EQIP Executive Summary
The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in DeKalb County, Alabama, will hold a signup for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) for the 2014 Fiscal Year. This signup will be held on a continuous basis. Any eligible landuser who has a resource concern or problem on pastureland, cropland, hayland, forestland, or wildlife land may apply for assistance through this program.

The USDA work group has prioritized the resource concerns in DeKalb County as:
Water Quality/Animal Waste
Forest Health and Wildlife
All applications will be ranked using the NRCS ranking tool and approvals will be given to those applications that will provide the greatest environmental benefits, i.e. those receiving the most environmental points. Contracts will be developed for approved applications in order of descending environmental points, until all funds are obligated. The first batching period for ranking and prioritizing applications will be October 18, 2013. Any applications received after this date will be considered in the next pool of funding, if funds become available.
DeKalb County will use the Alabama NRCS state approved EQIP Practice and Payment Schedule.
Pasture Planting/Renovation (512) - $11,900
Farmstead Energy Improvements (374) - $30,000
Tree Planting (612) - $4,800
Tree/Shrub Site Preparation (490) - $6,150
Prescribed Burning (338) - $983
Heavy Use Area Protection (561) - $11,000
Practice (591) - Amendment for the treatment of agricultural waste will have a limit of two poultry houses per producer
Waste Storage Facility (313) - $32,585
Limited Resource Farmers, New and Beginning Farmers, and Socially Disadvantaged Farmers will be paid at an increased payment rate.
