14 Limestone Co EQIP Executive Summary
The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Limestone County, Alabama, will hold the Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) for the 2014 Fiscal Year. This signup will be held on a continuous basis. Any eligible land user who has a resource concern or problem on any of the following concerns may apply for assistance through this program: Pastureland, Cropland, Forestland, Wildlifeland, or Hayland.

The USDA work group held its meeting and decided to prioritize the resource concerns in Limestone County as the following:
Water Quality/Animal Waste
Irrigation Water Management
Forest Health and Wildlife
All applicants will be ranked using an environmental benefits worksheet, and approvals will be given to the applicants that will provide the greatest environmental benefits, those receiving the most environmental points. Contracts will be developed for approved applications in order of descending environmental points, until all funds are obligated. Unfunded applications may be deferred until the following year.
Applications will be batched and ranked. The first batching of applications will have a cutoff date October 18, 2013. Another batching period will be announced if additional funds are available.
All practices, restrictions, limits, and payment rates will be the same as in the Alabama NRCS state approved EQIP Practice and Payment Schedule.
New and Beginning Farmers, Socially Disadvantaged Farmers, and Limited Resource Farmers will be paid at an increased payment rate.
Construction or renovation of ponds is ineligible for financial assistance.
The Limestone County USDA work group set limits for financial assistance on the following practices:
Pasture spraying - (Herbaceous weeds) $3,884 per contract for a maximum 2 year period.
Pasture Planting - $7,215 per operation per contract.
Tree Planting - $6,180 per operation per contract (Pine/Hardwood).
Site prep - $7,860 per operation per contract.
