14 Morgan Co EQIP Executive Summary
The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) of Morgan County, Alabama, will hold a sign-up for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) for the 2014 Fiscal Year. This signup will be held on a continuous basis. Any eligible landuser who has a resource concern or problem on pastureland, hayland, cropland, forestland, or wildlife land may apply for assistance through this program.

The USDA Work Group has identified the following resource concerns in Morgan County in order by priority:

Irrigation Water Management
All applications will be ranked using the NRCS ranking tool for environmental benefits. Approvals will be given to those applications that will provide the greatest environmental benefits, i.e., those receiving the most environmental points. Contracts will be developed for approved applications in order of descending environmental points, until all funds are obligated.
When available funds for resource concerns will not fully fund the next applicant, the funds will be returned to the State Pool.
The first batching period for ranking and prioritizing applications will be October 18, 2013. Subsequent batching dates will be announced as needed.
Program Payment Rates will be the maximum approved on the State NRCS Cost List.
Eligible Practices and Restrictions will be the same as on the State NRCS list. Planned financially-assisted conservation practices used to address the priority resource concerns will come from this list. Ponds will be limited to contracts for pastureland that meets or exceeds twenty acres in size.
Pest Management control of invasive species will be limited to those listed in the Alabama Invasive Plant Council’s publication "Alabama's 10 Worst Invasive Weeds."
Limited Resource Farmers, New and Beginning Farmers, and Socially Disadvantaged Farmers will be paid at an increased payment rate.
