Limestone Earth DayBrenda Wigginton, Limestone Co. SWCD, presenting the “Life in a Fishbowl” program to Brookhill Kindergarten students.

Brenda Wigginton, District Administrative Coordinator, and Jessica Cleveland, NRCS Technician, presented “Life in a Fishbowl” to kindergarten students at Brookhill Elementary in celebration of Earth Day on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013.

The students were delighted for a visit from “Freddie” the fish. He began in a nice clean bowl of water, but after the students took turns putting in different kinds of pollution, such as soil, fertilizer, pesticides, oil and litter, you could hardly see him!

They learned about water, how important is to take care of our water, and what they could do to help prevent our water from getting messed up. It was stress that whatever you put on the ground could end up in our drinking water. All students made a promise to help Ruby Raindrop keep our water clean.

The kindergarten students also learned about recycling and what a big part it plays in taking care of our earth.
