Forestry Workshop Being Held in Jasper, AL

AUBURN, Ala, August 21, 2014

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Walker County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), Alabama Forestry Commission, Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES), and the Walker County Forestry Planning Committee are hosting a forestry workshop at Bevill State Community College-Jasper Campus on September 16, 2014. Registration begins at 8 a.m. in the Mathews Lecture Hall with the meeting beginning at 8:30 a.m.

This is an excellent opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts including landowners and foresters to learn about managing forests for timber production. Attendees will also learn about beaver control, herbal medicinal uses of forest products, and best management practices. The program includes a variety of expert speakers including representatives from the Longleaf Alliance, Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, ACES, and Alabama Department of Environmental Management.

Registered foresters attending will receive 6 CFE continuing education units and professional logging managers attending will receive 8 PLM credit hours.
