Small Farmers Work Conference 2-27-2010

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Tuskegee University Cooperative Extension Program, and the Wilcox County Soil and Water Conservation District will sponsor a Small Farmers Work Conference, Saturday, February 27, 2010, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lower Coastal Plains Experiment Station in Camden, Alabama.
Presentations will be given by NRCS, Farm Service Agency, Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries, and the Alabama Farmers Market Authority. Producers can learn about program availability, conservation planning, and eligibility requirements. Representatives from the various agencies will be on hand to answer questions. Other topics include Organic Certifications; Value Added, Direct Marketing and Related Marketing Issues for Farmers; Heir Property and Possible Solutions; and Forestry Carbon Credit. A concurrent health fair will also be conducted on this day.
