TREASURE Forest Field Day in Cullman County
Producers were recognized for their stewardship of Alabama's forests.
The TREASURE Forest Field Day, held in October 2009, offered stewards of the land a great deal of information on the management and care of forest and wildlife habitats.
More than 130 producers attended the field day which featured forestry tours such as the Whetstone Creek tour, Bottomland tour and Wildlife Loop tour. Attendees were also able to learn about invasive species threatening forest land.
Reuben Williams, owner of Jones Chapel Farm, received the Forestry Stewardship Award; Raymond Jones of Jackson County received the Helene Mosley Memorial Treasured Forest Award.
The event was sponsored by the Cullman Co. SWCD/NRCS, Winston Co. Alabama Natural Resource Council, the Cullman Co. Forestry Planning Committee, AL Forestry Commission, AL Cooperative Extension Service, the AL Natural Resource Council, the AL Tree Farm Committee, AL TREASURE Forest and the AL Forest Forever Foundation.
