On November 1, 2012, Alabama USDA agency managers hosted an informational meeting in about the Hispanic, Women and Rancher Claims Process in Montgomery at the Richard Beard Building Auditorium. 

The purpose of the meeting was to give participants an overview of the claim process.  No legal counsel was provided.  Meetings have been held in Moulton, Guntersville, and New Brockton.  The final Alabama meeting will be in Robertsdale on November 19, 2012.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Department of Justice announced on February 25, 2011, an optional and voluntary program available to Hispanic and Women Farmers and Ranchers who allege USDA discrimination between 1981 to 2000.  Claim period for participation is September 24, 2012, until March 25, 2013. 

Claim packages can only be obtained at a USDA Informational Meeting or by placing a request through the Call Center or website at:  1-888-508-4429 (toll free number) or the claims process website).

Questions concerning the claim process should be directed to the Claim Center or you can email questions to claimsquestions@osec.usda.gov.  Individuals can also visit the National Agricultural Law Center website at http://new.nationalaglawcenter.org.

Local USDA Service Centers “only” have informational materials regarding the provisions of the claim process.  All other inquiries must be addressed through the Claim Center.
