Approximately $125,000 Anticipated for Rhode Island State Conservation Innovation Grants

WARWICK, RI (May 9, 2014) -- The United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service of Rhode Island (USDA NRCS) is accepting applications for pre-proposals for Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG) to stimulate the development and adoption of innovative conservation approaches and technologies. Grants of up to $75,000 will be awarded through a competitive grants process with up to $125,000 anticipated to be awarded statewide.
Funds will be awarded through a two-phase statewide competitive grants process that will include (1) a pre-proposal process and (2) a full proposal process. The full proposal process will only be open to applicants whose pre-proposal applications are selected by NRCS. Only pre-proposals are being solicited at this time.
For FY 2014, Rhode Island NRCS will consider pre-proposals that demonstrate the use of innovative technologies and/or approaches to address one of the five Rhode Island CIG categories: Program Outreach; Energy Conservation; Soil Health; Wildlife; and CIG Projects Assessment. Applications are requested from eligible government or non-government organizations or individuals for competitive consideration of grant awards for projects between one and three years in duration. Applications will only be considered for projects in Rhode Island.
Applications for the pre-proposals must be received in the NRCS Office in Warwick, RI by 4:00 PM on June 6, 2014. NRCS will announce selected pre-proposals applications by June 27, 2014. Selected applicants will then be required to submit a full proposal package to NRCS by 4:00 PM on July 28, 2014.
