Due to the passage of the 2014 Farm Bill and associated changes to NRCS programs, applications for the Agricultural Conservation Easement Program/Agricultural Land Easements component (formerly the Farm and Ranch Lands Protection Program) will be accepted beyond the previously announced April 11th deadline.

A new deadline will be announced soon. Check back here or sign-up for Conservation Connection e-blasts via GovDelivery to receive future announcements.

The Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP) provides financial and technical assistance to help conserve agricultural lands and wetlands and their related benefits.  Under the Agricultural Land Easements component, NRCS helps Indian tribes, state and local governments and non-governmental organizations protect working agricultural lands and limit non-agricultural uses of the land.

Landowners may not apply directly to NRCS for this program. NRCS only accepts ACEP/ALE applications from eligible entities that have a farmland protection program that purchases agricultural conservation easements for the purpose of protecting agricultural use and related natural resource conservation benefits.
