Illinois NRCS Announces Upcoming EQIP Application Dates
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 18, 2013
Champaign, IL--Illinois State Conservationist for USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Ivan Dozier announced that November 15, 2013 will be the first of four Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) application “cut-off" or submission deadline dates. “This will be the first sign-up opportunity for Fiscal Year 2014,” Dozier explains, “I encourage all Illinois producers with resource concerns to submit their paperwork and get their projects in early.”
The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) is a voluntary program that provides financial and technical assistance to agricultural producers through contracts. These contracts provide financial assistance for producers to help them address their specific soil, water and related natural resource concerns on private agricultural land and non-industrial private forestland.
Throughout Illinois, producers have received assistance to implement conservation practices that include, but are not limited to, nutrient management, cover crops, terraces, grassed waterways, manure management facilities, and pasture management.
NRCS accepts applications for EQIP on a continuous basis; however, Illinois NRCS established four application cut-off dates for the new fiscal year. The four application cutoff dates are:
• November 15th, 2013
• January 17th, 2014
• March 21st, 2014
• May 16th, 2014
Illinois agricultural producers who submit a signed application at NRCS field offices by the deadline will be evaluated for funding consideration.
Illinois producers interested in EQIP should visit their local NRCS office at the USDA Service Center prior to the signup dates and submit an application. For more information, or to apply for EQIP, contact your local NRCS field office or go online to www.il.nrcs.usda.gov.
