Social Science Tools for Broad Scale Planning Efforts
The NRCS Social Science Team’s website has a number of other papers that may
be of interest for broad-scale planning and working with community stakeholders
and large groups. They can be found through the following link:
http://www.ssi.nrcs.usda.gov/
The following are examples of these tools that may be useful for different
stages of rapid watershed assessment and other planning processes. The first is
a tool to help prioritize resource concerns. The second is a paper describing
“social capital” and the factors affecting the likelihood of a community pulling
together to implement conservation actions on a broad scale. The third and
fourth are a technical note and the associated spreadsheet for estimating
adoption of conservation systems in an area of concern.
These documents require
Adobe Acrobat,
Microsoft Word, and
Microsoft Excel.
