NRCS Conservation Innovation Grants 2009 Showcase 
July 13-14 in Dearborn, Michigan 

The USDA, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Conservation Innovative Grants (CIG) Showcase presents the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge conservation projects from across the United States.  

This year’s Showcase will be held in conjunction with the Soil and Water Conservation Annual Conference in Dearborn, Michigan. The next pages illustrate how to submit your abstract for consideration electronically, through the SWCS website. Once you are selected, you agree to register for the conference at the appropriate fee, attend the conference, and make the presentation in person.

Follow along to submit your abstract for Oral or Poster presentations for the 2009 Conservation Innovation Grants Showcase.

Submitting a CIG Abstract for the 2009 Showcase

Start by going to the URL below:

Read through the page and select the "new submission" radio button to go to the next part of the form, "Contact Information for Primary Contact"

Fill in the required form fields (first name, last name, agency, organization or institution,
address, city, email address). You may want to enter the non-required fields (state/province, country, ZIP, primary phone). 

Hit the "Next" button to go to the next screen, "Participation Option and Topic Area Preference"

Read about the three participation options.

Select one  "Participation Option" radio button (Symposia Session, Oral Presentation, Poster Presentation) 

Select one "Primary Topic Area" radio button. (Soil Resources and Management: Soil Resource Assessment Soil Resources and Management: Soil Resource Management and Conservation, Water Resources and Management, Conservation and Environmental Policy and Program Design, Conservation Education, Adaptive Management of Conservation Efforts, Conservation in Urban Settings, Conservation Tools and Technologies, *CIG Abstracts (Conservation Innovation Grant Program), *CEAP Session Abstracts) 

Optionally, select no more than two checkboxes in "Additional Topic Areas" (Soil Resources and Management: Soil Resource Assessment, Soil Resources and Management: Soil Resource Management and Conservation, Water Resources and Management, Conservation and Environmental Policy and Program Design, Conservation Education, Adaptive Management of Conservation Efforts, Conservation in Urban Settings, Conservation Tools and Technologies) 

Read the "Agreement to Register and Commitment to Participate"  select the checkbox, and click "next" to continue, to go to the "Oral or Poster Abstract Information" screen.

Read the information about abstracts.  Then fill in the text fields "Oral or Poster Abstract Information", "Presentation Title", "Other Authors and Affiliations" and "Abstract". Then click the "Submit" button.  

A printable page with the submitted information and an ID number for your abstract now appears, and you should receive a confirmation email at the address you submitted.
