The staff at the Plant Materials Center (PMC) in Aberdeen, Idaho, recently received the “Outstanding Plant Materials Team” award this year for their hard work to meet customer and resource needs.  They are always among NRCS’s top producers of high quality foundation seed and technical documents; they provide outstanding technical training and assistance to the Intermountain West.

PMC Team leader Loren St. John's staff includes wetland plant ecologist Chris Hoag, farm manager Brent Cornforth, biological technician Boyd Simonson, biological technician Charlie Bair, administrative assistant Pat Blaker, and biological aide Dan Thompsen.  Dan Ogle is the Plant Materials Specialist for Idaho and Utah and is stationed in Boise.

In a small ceremony that included field and State office staff as well as partners from the South Bingham Soil Conservation District, Idaho State Conservationist Jeff Burwell presented each employee a certificate of appreciation.  “The staff at the Aberdeen Plant Materials Center consistently excels in all they do.  They exemplify the excellence of NRCS and the Plant Materials Program,” Burwell said.

The Aberdeen Plant Materials Center has been in operation since 1939; testing, selecting, and releasing conservation plant materials and developing management information to help solve natural resource problems in the Intermountain West.  Home Farm operations are headquartered on land and buildings provided through a partnership with the South Bingham Soil Conservation District.
