NRCS Engineers Receive National Recognition

Four NRCS engineers recently received national recognition by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers at their 2007 annual international meeting in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Minnesota NRCS hydraulic engineer Sonia Maassel Jacobsen was presented the Professional Engineer of the Year Award recognizing her as a licensed engineer who has made outstanding contributions to the engineering profession, the public welfare, and/or humankind.

NRCS Director of the National Water Management Center R. Keith Admire, Missouri NRCS district conservationist Doyle Burch, and NRCS Water Quality Office civil engineer John Hester received the Award for the Advancement of Surface Irrigation for their contributions to increased efficiency of surface irrigation through the design and development of thin-walled, lay-flat plastic irrigation tubing best management practices.
