NRCS Plant Materials Center (PMC) manager in Tucson, Arizona, Ramona Garner
gave out hundreds of seed packets of native plants at the Phoenix City Park’s
celebration of National Public Lands day held
recently at the North Mountain Preserve. With attendance in the
thousands, National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest hands-on volunteer
effort to improve and enhance the public lands. In 2004, nearly 90,000
volunteers built trails and bridges, planted trees and plants, and removed trash
and invasive plants.
