State Historical Society Recognizes NRCS
 |
|
On
behalf NRCS, Dana R. Vaillancourt (left), State Cultural Resource
Specialist, accepts a Certificate of Recognition from Jay D. Vogt,
Director of the South Dakota State Historical Society. |
NRCS conservationists in South Dakota were recently presented a Certificate of
Recognition from the South Dakota State Historical Society Board of Trustees in
recognition of the agency's contribution in the preservation and interpretation
of South Dakota history through their cultural resources stewardship activities.
While all Federal agencies have responsibility for protecting cultural and
historical resources, the South Dakota State Historical Society Board of
Trustees recognized the significant role NRCS has played in protecting cultural
resources on private lands in that State. Through their daily work, NRCS
cultural resource-
trained employees have been proactively educating private landowners about
preserving historic resources in South Dakota.
