Earth Team Joins 2004 World Water Monitoring Day

earth team and america's clean water foundation logosAgain this year, NRCS Earth Team volunteers will join with America's Clean Water Foundation to participate in World Water Monitoring Day (WWMD). WWMD serves as a global educational platform for watershed leaders, educators, and trained volunteers to help those who are less experienced better understand how the actions of individuals in a watershed can impact many others.

From September 18 to October 18, 2004, NRCS Earth Team volunteers and citizens throughout the world community will have an opportunity to monitor the quality of their local watersheds and enter the results of their efforts into an international database. Then, on October 18, everyone will have an opportunity to celebrate World Water Monitoring Day.

More information on how you can organize a group of Earth Team volunteers in your community to 'test the waters' for this years' event will appear in subsequent issues of NRCS This Week and in the coming weeks on the NRCS Earth Team website at http://www.nrcs.usda.gov/feature/volunteers/.
Your contact is Tina Morris, NRCS WWMD coordinator, at 515-289-0325 ext. 30, or tina.morris@swcs.org.
