NRCS and FSA Conduct Joint GRP Teleconference

NRCS Chief Bruce Knight and John Johnson, FSA Deputy Administrator for Farm Programs, addressed NRCS state conservationists and FSA state executive directors across the country this week in a joint teleconference on the Grassland Reserve Program (GRP). The purpose was for the national leadership to discuss their vision for implementing the program and to discuss key provisions of the recently published GRP interim final rule. Topics covered: 2003 implementation, key provisions of the rule, funding allocations, determining enrollment types at the state level, training and the program manual. The joint teleconference was a successful partnership opportunity to promote conservation and achieve common goals.
