2004 National Wetland Award Winners Announced
Six
outstanding wetland educators, activists, scientists and conservationists were
selected as recipients of the 2004 National Wetlands Awards for their exemplary
contributions to the conservation and restoration of the nation's wetlands. The
award winners will be honored at a ceremony on May 20, 2004, from 6:00 to 8:00
p.m. in the Senate Caucus Room in the Russell Senate Office Building in
Washington, DC. This year's winners are:

The Environmental Law Institute (ELI) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
have sponsored the awards since 1989. NRCS co-sponsors and helps judge the
awards. National Wetlands Awardees show how individuals can and do make a
difference. Their efforts to educate the public and surrounding communities
about the value of wetlands, the programs that are available to protect and
restore wetlands, and the value of cooperation among grassroots organizations,
educational organizations, private landowners, and Federal, State, and local
government agencies to protect wetland resources.
