Developing a Team Mission Statement

Your team's reason for being or existing:

• Must be short and clear.
  
• Two or three line statement telling why the team exists.
  
• Mission should be typed and distributed to all team members and/or posted in work areas.

Example - Organization's mission statement:

To provide leadership and administer programs to help conserve, improve and sustain our natural resources and environment.

Example - Work team's mission statement:

The Conservation Staff provides leadership in developing, maintaining, and transferring conservation planning and application technology to customers and others in order to conserve natural resources.

Example - Quality Improvement team's mission statement:

To develop a process for identifying, documenting, and communicating success stories that can be used by all organizational levels.
