Wildlife Biologist with over 33 years experience in NRCS.

Background

For three years, Steve was the Wildlife Biologist at the Central National Technology Support Center provided technical support for States and NHQ.  He also did a detail as NRCS National Biologist.  For the 17 years prior to moving to the CNTSC he worked on a cooperative project with the Forest Service Rocky Mountain Research Station and the FS Inventory and Monitoring Institute in Ft. Collins, CO. In that capacity he conducted national assessments of the status, condition, and trends of wetlands, wildlife, and wildlife habitats as impacted by agriculture and USDA programs. He represented USDA on 3 (of 10) “agri-environmental” indicator teams developed at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (a 34 member-nation organization). He has authored or coauthored 26 scientific publications including the chapter “Managing Farmlands for Wildlife” for The Wildlife Society’s Wildlife Management Techniques Manual. He has made 48 formal presentations at scientific meetings, symposia, workshops, the Congressional Office of Technology Assessment, and the White House Office of Environmental Policy. He conducted all of the analysis of wetland trends for President Bush and Sec. Venemen’s Earth Day, 2004 press releases. Professional Experience
