Help
for Washington’s Private Forest Lands
Washington NRCS resource conservationist Nick Somero has helped private
forest landowner John Keller use Environmental Quality Incentives Program funds
to curb erosion on his land. “Erosion adversely affects water quality in streams
that run throughout Washington’s forests,” Somero says. “Additionally, water
affects the load bearing strength of a road, and saturated road surfaces can
quickly become deeply rutted or even impassable.”
