New Drought Calculator
(from CattleNetwork) Illinois NRCS rangeland specialists have developed a drought calculator to provide livestock producers with a tool to help them make decisions for operations during dry conditions.


Minnesota

Minnesota NRCS soil technician Lisa Zluticky recently teamed up with White Earth Indian Reservation Tribal Liaison Adam Woltjer to lead sessions comparing field, forest, and wetland ecosystems for over 47 students at this year’s Annual White Earth Math & Science Academy.  Lisa also assisted students with the construction of wren houses.  Lisa and Adam were two of many who helped provide educational opportunities for area youth.

The National Employee Development Center has announced a new course titled, Air, Climate Change, and Energy.  The course will help NRCS employees understand the terminology and the basics of air, climate change, and energy issues.  The course is available to all NRCS employees, partners, and technical service providers through AgLearnWatch a video that describes the new course.

National Soil Survey Center Staff (NSSC) from Lincoln, Nebraska, recently exhibited at the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) International Conference in Reno, Nevada.  Their outreach effort was to increase awareness and use of NRCS on-line soils applications and information databases among non-traditional customers.

NRCS This Week features a weekly historical photo and caption.  NHQ, districts, States, RC&D councils, and all other NRCS entities are invited to submit a historical photo of activities or individuals who have worked or are working for the agency along with a caption.
